Overview
Sikles Villages Trek is a unique location, with a pristine and natural presence, beautiful mountain villages, high alpine meadows snuggled below the towering mountains of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna IV (7,525), and the glacier lake called Kapuche Lake is now the major attraction of this trekking.
Sikles Trek is one of the perfect destinations to explore Gurung Cultures Heritage. It is the second-largest Gurung village in Nepal. There is a strong belief among the villagers that, during the Dashain and Tihar (Hindu festival) the local youths are not allowed to play the Nepali drum (Madal), Folk activities until the festival is over. Otherwise, the god will get angry and avalanches thunder down off the mountainsides.
In this trek, you will have the chance to travel through the lush forest of rhododendrons, various patterns of terraced fields, breathtaking mountain ranges and landscapes. There are trekking routes which are worth experiencing like Kori and Kapuche Lake. You can discover numerous species of birds, waterfalls, and species of pet and wild animals. Since this is an emerging trekking route, it is less crowded than other trails in the Annapurna region. The Kapuche Lake is the ultimate destination of Sikles. In Nepal, all glacier lakes are situated 4,000m above sea level but Kapuche Glacier Lake is unique in that it is idyllically situated at just 2,450m above sea level. You can also witness several small avalanches falling straight to the lake with the sliding noise of ice and the snow from Mt. Annapurna II. The color of the Lake will be blue and reflects the sky.
Itinerary
You will be heading to Sikles very early in the day, which is about 5 hours’ drive. Sikles is a well-preserved village located on a small hill at a height of 1,981 meters. The traditional and cultural beauty of the village will amaze you. There will be an overnight stay in the guesthouse of the Sikles.
On the next day, you’ll be trekking from Sikles to Hugu. This will be starting off your trekking journey. Leaving the Sikles village early you’ll be ascending the stone stairs and stone path towards Hugu. There will be the opening view of Annapurna II and some mountains of Lamjung Himal. Then the narrow path at the edge of hills thrills you down trails and witness a waterfall called Edi Jharna (64m). Continuing you’ll pass through small rivers and bridges and reach Hugu finally. You’ll be trekking for 6-7 hours and have an overnight camp in Hugu.
On this day, you’ll trek from Hugu to Kapuche and then trek back to Hugu. This lake is situated at a height of 2,450m above sea level making it the lowest glacier lake in Nepal. The path is easy and quiet in comparison to other routers in the Annapurna region. You enjoy beautiful and refreshing mountain ranges and the peaceful wildlife of the trail. After the trek for about 2 hours, you’ll reach the crystal clear Kapuche Glacier Lake. The beautiful mountains will surround you with a crystal-clear blue lake upfront. You can spend time there and get back to Hugu again as there are no accommodations available at the lake. You’ll be trekking for approximately 4 hours.
After enjoying the magnificent and luxurious nature life for a day you’ll be returning to Sikles from Hugu. The returning trail will be the same as where you came from. The return trip will be faster than your arrival. The trekking will be for like 5-6 hours and overnight guesthouse stay at Sikles.
Today we will be going back to Pokhara from Sikles in a private jeep. The culture and nature will not surely fail to impress you. It will be the same 4-5 hours’ drive back to Pokhara.

Except for the monsoon season, all the seasons are the best for Sikles and Kapuche Lake trek. The main season for beautiful mountains and lakes is from September to November. The view of the Lake and mountains will be marvelous these months. And for the avalanches, February to April is the best month to go for this trek. During monsoon trails become slippery and even the mountains hide behind the clouds most of the time.
