Overview
This trek is a rewarding trip for visitors who want a short and easy trek. During the trek, we will be able to explore the ethnic Gurung village within a short time. The warm and friendly hospitality of Gurung village can be a different taste for the visitors. Apart from this, we also get a stunning view of the Annapurna range.
The village is enriched naturally and culturally. They leave you astonished with local Gurung cultural programs with typical dances and songs of Gurung people. Dhampus is a quite serene and quiet place which will be an ideal choice for peace lovers. We will reach Australian Camp at about 2000 meters, which will be our day-end trek. This place offers you the opportunity to sight the spectacular Annapurna range, Mount Machhapuchhre, Mount Dhaulagiri, Mount Hiunchuli, Mount Lamjung and Dhampus peak. It is the right place for those who are tired of crowded life in the city. The trek is about 4 hours of walking on a moderately steep trail that passes through the forest.
Itinerary
This trek is very short. We can go through trials or roadways. There will be a drive from Pokhara to the start point (Phedi Khola). There will be a stairway trail made of stones at the start which will lead to a steep upward trail. The journey will be through the forest where we can already feel nature and away from the pollution. We can also find different kinds of botanical plants. The trek route is about 18 miles which takes about 3-4 hours approximately.
After we reach the top of the Dhampus village we can enjoy the scenery and relax. The beautiful aroma of the village will take you to a different nostalgic experience. There are a lot of lodges in the village with the typical local Gurung cuisine. The village is worth a walk so you could walk around the village. The astonishing panoramic view of the Annapurna Himalayan ranges will take away your stress. Evening time, the local community organizes small programs for singing and dancing for the entertainment of guests. There will be an overnight stay in one of the lodges. The next day watching the sunrise of the Himalayas we will have breakfast, Then, we will return to Pokhara.
